Greetings from Scarborough! We’re currently exploring this beautiful seaside town with our eyes peeled for some prime locations to capture in our next aerial photography session. As we roam around, we’re putting together a wish list of spots that we’re eager to film—fingers crossed the weather cooperates! Here’s a sneak peek at the locations we’re most excited about.
Scarborough Castle: The Crown Jewel
First on our list is the magnificent Scarborough Castle. Perched high on a rocky promontory, this medieval fortress offers stunning views of the town and the coastline. We’re imagining sweeping aerial shots that capture both the grandeur of the castle and the expanse of the North Sea beyond. The challenge will be getting the perfect angle to showcase the castle’s historical significance while also highlighting its dramatic setting.
St Mary’s Church: A Slice of History
Next up, we’re planning to visit St Mary’s Church. This historic church is a must-see, not just for its beautiful architecture but also because it’s the final resting place of Anne Brontë. We’re hoping to capture the church from above, with its spire reaching toward the sky and the surrounding churchyard adding a touch of tranquillity to the scene. The light filtering through the trees and casting shadows on the stone walls should make for some truly atmospheric shots.
Freddie Gilroy Sculpture: Art on the Seafront
We couldn’t miss the opportunity to include the Freddie Gilroy sculpture in our list. This striking statue, located on the North Bay seafront, is both a work of art and a poignant reminder of history. Capturing this sculpture from the air, with the beach and the waves as its backdrop, is high on our agenda. We’re hoping to bring out the contrast between the solid, reflective nature of the sculpture and the ever-changing seascape behind it.
Oliver’s Mount War Memorial: Views for Miles
Lastly, we’re aiming to capture the Oliver’s Mount War Memorial, which stands atop one of the highest points in Scarborough. From this vantage point, we’re expecting to get some breathtaking panoramic views of the town, the bays, and beyond. The memorial itself, standing tall and proud, will make a powerful focal point in our footage. We’re especially excited to see how the drone can capture the scale of this site and the vastness of the landscape around it.
Hoping for Clear Skies
As always with outdoor photography, the weather is the wildcard. We’re hoping for clear skies and good light to make the most of these incredible locations. Scarborough’s mix of history, art, and natural beauty has us buzzing with excitement, and we can’t wait to get the drone in the air and start capturing some amazing footage.
Stay tuned as we embark on this adventure—hopefully, we’ll have some fantastic shots to share with you soon!
