Day two in Scarborough started early, and while the sun wasn’t quite as cooperative as yesterday, it was trying its best to break through the clouds. With three locations on my list, I was ready to capture some stunning shots, even if the weather had other plans!
Rotunda Museum and Spa Bridge: A Battle with the Birds
I kicked off the day at the Rotunda Museum and Spa Bridge, two of Scarborough’s most photogenic spots. The architecture and views here are simply fantastic, offering so many great angles for the camera. I managed to get some lovely shots with my camera, capturing the unique curves of the Rotunda and the elegance of the Spa Bridge. But when it came time to get some aerial footage, the local wildlife had different ideas. Every time I sent the drone up, it was attacked by seagulls or pigeons. I tried five times, but the birds weren’t having it—they weren’t going to settle until I either left or they downed the drone! So, after a few close calls, I decided it was best to move on.
Scarborough Spa: A Coastal Gem
Next, I headed to Scarborough Spa. With the tide low and the conditions calm, it was the perfect time to capture this historic site. I was able to get some fantastic drone footage and a few choice shots with the camera. The Spa’s Victorian architecture against the backdrop of the sea made for some really atmospheric shots. I’m particularly excited about how the drone footage turned out—the calm waters and expansive views really highlight the Spa’s grandeur.
South Cliff Clock Tower: Perfect Conditions
Finally, I made my way to the South Cliff Clock Tower. By this time, the sun had decided to fully break through, and the sky was a brilliant blue—the perfect conditions for both flying and photography. The Clock Tower, with its stunning views over the South Bay, provided the ideal subject for my final shoot of the day. The bright sunlight highlighted every detail of the tower and the surrounding landscape, making for some truly beautiful images.
Editing the Footage
Now that I’ve wrapped up two days of shooting, I’ve got a ton of footage and photos to sift through and edit. The backdrops I captured should make for some awesome images and beautiful aerial videos. I’m really looking forward to piecing everything together and sharing the final results with you all.
Stay tuned for the finished product—I think you’re going to love how we’ve captured Scarborough from our perspective!
