Stanwick Deer Shelter
In a recent project, I had the privilege of photographing the Stanwick Deer Shelter, a remarkable 18th-century structure set within the historic landscape of Stanwick Park. Located near the site of the Stanwick Iron Age Fortifications, one of the largest and most significant ancient hillforts in Britain, the deer shelter adds another layer to the rich tapestry of the area’s history. My photography captures the weathered stone arches of the shelter, framed by the expansive parkland that once echoed with the presence of Iron Age communities. These images celebrate both the architectural beauty of the shelter and its connection to the deep historical roots of the surrounding landscape, offering a unique glimpse into the past.
